College Senior Killed In I-80 Bus Crash In Morris County: Cops
A college senior has been identified as the person killed in Thursday night's NJ crash. A candlelight vigil was held for her.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — A New York woman and Syracuse University student has been identified as the person killed in Thursday night's bus crash on Route 80 in Parsippany, police said.
Brianna Herrera, 21, from Ozone Park, NY and a senior at Syracuse, was killed when the tour bus she was on was involved in a multi-car crash around 7:45 p.m., police said. A candlelight vigil was held at the university for Herrera on Friday.
Herrera was reportedly heading home to see her family. Friends and family described Herrera in a CBs2 video as somebody who very driven and had "a lot of goals" in her life. Here is more:

Three people remain hospitalized, one in critical condition and two in serious condition, a hospital spokesperson said. Thirty-six people were injured in total.
Police have not released the identity of the person killed in the one bus, three car crash. Police told Patch the vehicle is a commercial bus registered to Adirondack Trailways in New York.The company did not answer phone calls placed at its headquarters Thursday night.

A spokesperson for Morristown Medical Center confirmed that most patients were discharged overnight.
Four people were seriously injured and taken to the Morristown Medical Center trauma center by ambulance, Jeffrey S. Paul the Morris County Office of Emergency Management director, said. Another 17 people were taken to the hospital on the Mobile Ambulance Bus. Five more were taken to Saint Clare's, and ten were taken to the Parsippany District 5 Fire House for an evaluation.
"The Morris County Office of Emergency Management is extremely grateful to all of the first responders and our hospital partners who made a difference in the lives of others. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families," Paul said."
Although the cause of the crash remains unclear, a witness told the Daily Record he saw the bus hit the median and go airborne, describing the crash as "horrific."
"My thoughts and prayers are with the departed soul’s family and the many that were injured on route 80 in Parsippany last night. I would like to thank our first responders for going above and beyond the call of duty last night," Parsippany Mayor Michael Soriano.
The crash happened around 7:45 p.m. near Exit 43 on the express lanes in Parsippany on Thursday, NJ DOT said. It closed all lanes of the highway for several hours, with express lane closures lasting into the early-morning hours. All lanes were reopened by the Friday rush hour.
