125-Year-Old Foodtown Closes In Denville

It was closing time for good at the 125-year-old grocery store on Monday.

DENVILLE, NJ — After 125 years in business, the Denville Foodtown has closed their doors for good.

The store first opened in 1893 by the Dickerson family. Although it underwent several names changes, the family and the services remained the same in its more than a century of business. It was open for one last, cash-only day on Monday before shuttering.

"There are no words to describe how we all feel about yesterday’s “end”. Yesterday morning’s tears were of sadness, today’s are of love and joy. I’ll ride this rollercoaster anytime! Thanks for riding it with us," the family wrote.
