Car Bursts Into Flames at Smith Field
An officer's quick response put out a car fire before it could spread.

A Parsippany Police Officer's quick response helped quell a car fire after it burst into flames on Monday.
Ptl. Thomas Dinkelspiel was patrolling the area near Smith Field on Baldwin Road around 7:30 p.m. when he saw a blue BMW pull into the park completely filled with smoke, said Parsippany Police Sgt. Yvonne Christiano.
The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, got out just before the 2007 BMW station wagon burst into flames, she said. Officer Dinkelspiel was able to put the fire out with an extinguisher before the flames could spread from the rear compartment.
