Ex-Picatinny Arsenal Employee Admits To Bribes, Kickbacks

The former employee admitted to accepting at least $200,000 in bribes, officials said.

PICATINNY ARSENAL, NJ — A former Picatinny Arsenal employee has admitted to receiving bribes and directing kickbacks while working in New Jersey, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said.

Kevin Leondi, 57, of Stroudsberg, Pennsylvania, pled guilty to conspiring to defraud the United States by soliciting and accepting bribes, and conspiring to steer kickbacks from one conspirator to another. He is the third person to plead guilty in relation to this scheme.

Between 2010 and 2015, Leondi admitted to accepting at least $200,000 in bribes in return for giving contractors James Conway and George Grassie favorable work assignments and not denying them future work, Carpenito said. Leondi disguised the bribes was legitimate looking business transactions.

Leondi faces up to 10 years in prison and $500,000 in fines. He will be sentences in January 2019. Conway and Grassie previously pled guilty and are awaiting sentencing.
