Fire Tears Through Parsippany Turkish Restaurant
On June 27, the Elmas Turkish & Mediterranean Restaurant caught fire.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — A Turkish restaurant in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township caught fire in the evening on June 27, fire officials said.
Fire officials were dispatched at 8:12 p.m. to Elmas Turkish & Mediterranean Cuisine at 1561 US-46 for the reported fire, the Parsippany Troy-Hills Fire District 6 said in a statement.
Shortly after, the Parsippany District 5 Fire Department and the Lake Hiawatha Fire Department arrived, confirming a fire in the roof's corner.

Damage was kept to a minimum thanks to quick collaboration among all departments, officials said.
No injuries were reported as crews doused the fire.

"Roof damage was about a 10X5 area," Fire District 6 told Patch.
According to a report from the Parsippany Focus, Syed Abdulhai, the business owner, informed Ptl. Christopher Yi that he had recently spoken with the landlord, Joseph Minelli, after discovering a roof leak the day before.
Earlier that day, around 3:00 p.m., an unidentified company was apparently hired to repair the leak. The flames' location coincided with the repaired area.
At this time, police have not revealed any new information.
