Help Morris County Group Get Handicap Accessible Van
Rose House wants assistance to help developmentally disabled adult as part of Giving Tuesday this week.

PARSIPPANY, NJ - Rose House, a place that provides developmentally disabled adults with a variety of living options, skills training, and interpersonal supports, is responding to meet the needs of developmentally disabled adults in Morris County by raising money for a handicap accessible van to transport them safely from their group homes to locations throughout the community.
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on Dec. 1 and throughout the year.
According to officials, Rose House typically relies on in-person fundraising events but this year is joining the global GivingTuesday movement as a way to virtually raise money for their van project. Their goal is to raise enough money to purchase a new handicap accessible van, which can cost upwards of $40,000 for one of their five group homes. This van will provide safe and reliable transportation to all the residents of the group home.

“It is so easy to take transportation for granted when you can simply jump in your car and drive to where you need to go.” says Kasie Lyons, Director of Marketing and Development for Rose House. “However, our developmentally disabled clients rely on Rose House to provide safe transportation from their group homes to the community. Having access to a handicap accessible van means that our clients get to participate in activities outside of their homes, whether it means traveling to doctor appointments, community events and activities, or places of employment.”
GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past eight years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

People demonstrate generosity in many ways on GivingTuesday. Whether it’s helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving to causes we care about, every act of generosity counts. GivingTuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets 14.2 billion impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved.
“GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year.” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a charred space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”
