Martin C. Jachts Dies at 79: Founded Parsippany's Seegott of New Jersey
Jachts, who lived in Sparta, also served as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve.

Longtime Sparta resident and businessman Martin C. Jachts died last Saturday at New York Presbyterian Hospital surrounded by his family, according to a notice on the website of Goble Funeral Home. He was 75 years old.
Martin was born in Newark, lived in Paterson and Hawthorne, and for the past 48 years resided in Sparta.
He served as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve and worked for 16 years in sales and management for Pfizer Inc. In 1977, Martin founded Seegott Inc. of New Jersey, a Parsippany-based manufacturer and distributor of coating products. He became an active member of the Metropolitan New York Paint and Coatings Association. Martin remained with Seegott, the obituary said, until his retirement in 1999.
The man is remembered for having an exuberance for life, which he shared in his roles as a eucharistic minister and choir member at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Sparta. He also was an avid fisherman, skier and gardener.
Martin is survived by his wife, Ann Marie Jachts; children Darren and wife Victoria of Franklin Lakes, Dana Friedl and husband Michael of Purcellville, Va.; brother Arthur and sister-in-law Celeste of Howell and six grandchildren.
A visitation was scheduled for Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St. in Sparta.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Martin will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lake RC Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m., followed by entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum in North Arlington.
