MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Authorities have identified the body recovered from the Passaic River in Morris County last week, confirming its connection to a missing persons case.

Two fishermen discovered the body on March 23 after spotting it in the Passaic River near Route 46 around 4:30 p.m., authorities confirmed. Law enforcement later recovered the body from the river and found that the man had no identification on him.

Following an investigation, police officially confirmed that the body belonged to 21-year-old Timothy Robinson, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office announced. Robinson had been last seen leaving the Essex County Hospital Center in Cedar Grove around 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 and was reported missing shortly after.

According to the New Jersey State Police, Robinson, a Newark resident, was “developmentally delayed” and was “unaware that he was missing.”

Prosecutors released a description and photos of Robinson’s tattoos last week, and he was positively identified through dental records on Monday, officials confirmed. On the same day, members of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and the Essex County Sheriff’s Office personally notified Robinson’s next of kin.

An investigation into Robinson’s death remains ongoing, but authorities have stated that the cause is not suspected to be criminal. No projectiles or foreign objects were found on his body, according to police.
