Morris Co. College Student Killed In Multi-Car Crash

POMPTON PLAINS, NJ — A college student from Morris County was one of three killed in a multi-car crash in Pennsylvania over the weekend, officials from the college he attended confirmed.

Ethan Van Bochoven, a senior at Messiah College, was killed Interstate 83 in Lower Paxton Township during the 8:30 p.m crash on Friday, nj.com reported. Originally from Pompton Plains, the 22-year-old was studying music with a concentration in music composition, the college said, and was active in the school's worship community.

"Please remember to pray for Ethan’s family and friends, that they may experience God’s comfort, peace and guidance during this time of profound grief and loss," the college wrote in a tribute.

Zachary Lybrand, 24, and an 18-month-old baby girl were also killed in the crash. The driver police say caused the crash was allegedly drunk at the time, and faces vehicular homicide charges, PennLive reported.

Many shared fond memories of Van Bochoven on his Facebook page, remembering him as a friendly, smart young man.

"I will remember Ethan’s smile as the sunset and sunrise, the birds singing for his music and his pure honest love for life and my niece. He will play in God's garden and always be a part of this family," his girlfriend's aunt shared.

"Ethan was such an intelligent, polite young man that I held him in high regard. I was his older brother's Admissions Counselor as well and had the pleasure of knowing the entire family," said Van Bochoven's admissions counselor.
