Morris Co. Doctor Guilty In 'Ski Rage' Attack On Child: Report
Police say the doctor hit a 12-year-old boy after the boy skied into the doctor and his child on a bunny slope.

VERNON, NJ — A Morris County doctor accused of hitting a 12-year-old boy in a "ski rage" incident on Valentine's Day 2016 has been found guilty, New Jersey Herald reported.
Dr. Samuel Caruthers, from Mountain Lakes, was found guilty of endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was found not guilty of two counts of aggravated assault, including one with a deadly weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Caruthers' lawyer told the paper he is filing a motion to set aside the verdict, citing issues with the trial, and hopes most of the convictions will be overturned.

The charges stem from a 2016 incident on a bunny slope at Mountain Creek ski resort in Vernon. According to police, Caruthers was skiing with his children when the 12-year-old ran into them. Police say Caruthers responded by hitting the pre-teen with his fist and ski pole.
During the trial Caruthers reportedly said he could not tell the 12-year-old boy was that young, citing his height, bulky clothing and mask, and mustache.
