A fire at a hotel on Route 10 in Morris County prompted a mass evacuation Friday night, officials said.

WHIPPANY, NJ - A fire at a hotel on Route 10 in Morris County prompted a mass evacuation Friday night, officials said.

The fire reportedly took place at Red Carpet Inn in Whippany, according to Morris County EMS scanner information and a report from the Hanover Eagle.

The outlet also reported that no one was injured in the blaze.

A temporary shelter at the Hanover Township Community Center (15 North Jefferson Road, Whippany) has opened for anyone affected by this fire, the New Jersey Red Cross said in a statement.

It was not immediately clear how the fire broke out. A request for comment from the Whippany Fire Department was not immediately returned.
