Parsippany Library Offers Free Computer Classes

The Parsippany Public Library will be holding free computer classes for anyone wishing to become more tech-savvy.

The classes feature a variety of lessons including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, buying and selling on eBay and computer basics.

Register for these free classes by calling 973-887-5150 x209 or emailing mary.martin@parsippanylibrary.org. Registration is mandatory.

Powerpoint Basics – Monday, July 8 at 7:00 pm

Class covers the basics of creating a presentation, inserting pictures, adding new slides, viewing a slideshow, and saving documents.

Very Basics of Computers – Wednesday, July 10 at 10 am

This class is for computer novices only. Learn about the elements of a computer, and get comfortable using a computer mouse. You will get hands-on practice in using a mouse to navigate the computer.

Introduction to the Internet – Thursday, July 11 at 10 am

Tailored to the new user, this program covers the basics of the Internet.

Searching for Jobs Online – Monday, July 15 at 7:00 pm

Get some tips & tricks for your online job search.  This class is designed for people starting their job search. Time will be allotted for students to visit sites after the class.

Excel 2010 Basics – Tuesday, July 16 at 2:30 pm

Learn the basics of creating spreadsheets and other functions of Excel. Class covers the basics of settting up a spreadsheet, creating formulas, printing, and saving. Please bring a flash drive with you. (If you do not own a flash drive, you may purchase one at the beginning of class for $5.00.)

Word 2010 Basics – Wednesday, July 17 at 2:30 pm

Class covers the basics of creating a document, changing fonts, font sizes, margins, inserting pictures, and saving documents. Please bring a flash drive with you. (If you do not own a flash drive, you may purchase one at the beginning of class for $5.00.)

Buying and Selling on eBay – Monday, July 22 at 2:30 pm

Learn the ins and outs of buying and selling your treasures on eBay.

Excel: Beyond the Basics – Monday, July 29 at 2:30 pm

You’ve learned the basics, now get ready to explore even more of what Excel can do for you!

Travel & Real Estate Online – Tuesday, July 30 at 10 am

You’ve learned the basics of the Internet (prerequisite is Intro to the Internet or equivalent skill level), now it’s time to kick up your capabilities even more. This class covers the tips and tricks of using travel and real estate sites on the Internet. 

Publisher Basics – Wednesday, July 31 at 2:30 pm

Class covers the basics of using this desktop publishing software. You will learn to create a greeting card and insert pictures into a publication.
