Parsippany Man Clubbed Goose To Death On Morris County Golf Course: Cops
Man allegedly got into 'altercation' with waterfowl on Pompton Plains golf course, Morris County Park Police said.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. – A Parsippany man has been charged by the Morris County Park Police with the beating death of a goose while golfing in Pompton Plains last week.
William Mitchell, 54, hit his ball near a goose nest on the 18th hole of the Sunset Valley Golf Course on May 15, Park Police said, and “during an altercation” with the animal, Mitchell beat the goose with his golf club as he was trying to get his ball back, and the animal later died from its injuries.
Witnesses on the course reported the incident to the golf club administration, which then told Morris County Park Police the following day, May 16. Police made contact with Mitchell the next day, May 17, and formally charged him.

The animal was a male Canadian goose, and Mitchell could face fines if convicted of the charge.
