Parsippany's Next 'Coffee With A Cop' Date Sparks Community Concern
The Parsippany Police Department will station officers at the Lake Hiawatha Library on Sept. 11 for a community outreach event.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — A popular event where residents can chat with local police officers over a cup of java is facing criticism from some Parsippany residents due to its chosen date.
Next month's "Coffee With a Cop" community event, which offers a chance for officers and residents to connect and get to know each other better, has been scheduled for Sept. 11, much to the disappointment of some residents.
"This is absolutely the wrong day to do this. You have to reschedule. Please remember all of the people that died that day 23 years ago and the rest of us who survived it," one resident wrote on social media.

"'Coffee with a Cop' is a great idea and I commend the PPD for doing it, but why not schedule it for another day?" another added.
The township has made no public comment on the choice of date as of Monday afternoon, nor have they announced any intention to reschedule the event.

According to the township, the event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lake Hiawatha Library, located at 68 Nokomis Avenue.
The event is meant to "discuss community issues, build relationships and enjoy complimentary coffee" in an informal setting.
