Pedestrian Killed In Morris County Hit-And-Run Identified

Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a hit-and-run incident on Route 46 in Parsippany on Monday night.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Police released new details and identified the pedestrian who was killed by a hit-and-run vehicle late Monday morning on Route 46 in Parsippany.

Jelson Cabrera, 35, of Trenton, was killed after an SUV struck him near Sandra Drive, close to Buffalo Wild Wings in Parsippany, just before 9:30 p.m., according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

When police arrived at the scene, the driver of the SUV had fled, leaving Cabrera injured in the street. Medics rushed Cabrera to Morristown Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries, police said.

Officials stated that the vehicle involved in the incident is a silver or gray Toyota RAV4 from either the 2019, 2020, or 2021 model years.

The car is also missing a passenger-side mirror, a spokesperson with the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.

As of Thursday morning, no charges have been filed and the driver remains unidentified, according to police.
