Second Day of Lake Search Suspended For Missing Man in Morris County

Divers resumed search operations on White Meadow Lake Monday morning.

The search for a man who went missing after his canoe capsized at a Morris County lake Sunday morning resumed Monday in frigid temperatures but came up empty and were forced to suspend operations at sundown.

Divers from local and county agencies were at White Meadow Lake in Rockaway Monday morning to resume the search that lasted some 12 hours Sunday. The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office reported multiple 911 calls came in around 3 a.m. Sunday after two men fell into the lake from a capsized canoe.

One man was pulled from the waters and taken to the hospital, where he was later released that day. The second man is still being sought, now more than 24 hours after he went missing.
