Sherrill Holding First Town Hall, Starting 'Monday With Mikie'
Rep. Mikie Sherrill has announced her first town hall and 'Monday with Mikie,' fulfilling two campaign promises.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Newly sworn-in Representative Mikie Sherrill will hold her first town hall this month, and begin hosting "Monday with Mikie" meetings at her new Parsippany office.
"I can think of no better way to kick off the first district work week of the new Congress, than with a town hall meeting," said Sherrill. "The town hall is a wonderful opportunity to share my legislative priorities, update everyone on what I’ve seen and heard in Washington, and then take the community’s concerns back with me to Congress."
The town hall will be held on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Hanover Township Community Center in Whippany. It'll be first come, first seated for the first 400 people.

Holding regular town halls and making herself accessible to constituents were key campaign promises for Sherrill, who criticized retiring Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen for his lack of transparency towards the end of his decades long career. This announcement upholds Sherrill's early-December promise to hold a town hall in mid-January.
The Parsippany district office is set to open on Monday, Jan. 14 with her first "Monday with Mikie." That meeting will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 9 :45 a.m.; regular office hours for the district office will be Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"An accessible, centrally-located district office is incredibly important to me and my staff," said Sherrill. "I am looking forward to welcoming residents to their New Jersey office and continuing an open dialogue with the community."
Sherrill plans on holding the "Monday with Mikie" sessions regularly, but more detailed information was not immediately available.
The office is located at 8 Wood Hollow Road, Suite 203. There's on-site parking, and it's located a blocked away from the NJ Transit bus stop on Smith Road at Wood Hollow Road. That stop is serviced by the 874 and 79 bus routes.
"Monday with Mikie" appears to be a riff on "Fridays with Frelinghuysen," a grassroots campaign started during former-Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen's final term in office. Activists would camp out at Frelinghuysen's Morristown office every Friday asking for office hours and town hall meetings.
