PARSIPPANY, N.J. - An uptick in identity theft and phone scams bilking thousands out of residents has drawn extra attention from local police, and now the department is helping locals better understand how to avoid the crimes.
Officer Remo D’Alessandro and Det. Joseph Puso sat in with Mayor James Barberio in his weekly Pride In Parsippany episode to discuss the issues.
In January two Parsippany residents were scammed out of a combined $20,000 in a matter of days.
