Pedestrian, 73, Was Killed Trying To Cross Major NJ Highway: Officials
The woman was trying to cross the highway when a driver hit her Monday morning, officials said. That driver collided with another vehicle.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — Officials identified an elderly pedestrian who was struck and killed while she was trying to cross Route 46 in Parsippany.
The collision happened at approximately 11 a.m. Monday on Route 46 West at North Beverwyck Road. Officials said 73-year-old Sonia Diaz of Bayonne attempted to cross the highway and was struck by the driver of a Jeep, who then collided with a Kia sedan.
First responders pronounced Diaz dead at the scene, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.

Both drivers remained at the scene, and officials have not filed any charges in connection with the crash at this time. The Prosecutor's Office will continue investigating the collision, along with the Parsippany Police Department and Morris County Sheriff’s Office.
