Would-Be Burglars Awaken 2 Parsippany Homeowners, Police Say

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Two Parsippany homeowners startled would-be burglars that were trying to break into their residences recently, police said.

On April 4 at 6:59 p.m., a resident of Rutgers Village Apartments told police that someone stole items from his car that morning, while the vehicle was parked at the complex. The resident said a Byrna pepper spray launcher and a laser pointer had been taken from the car. No suspect description was available.

On April 6 at 4:25 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Brentford Street where a homeowner said he was woken up by two unknown males trying to get into his home. The homeowner said he saw the two people looking at his vehicle in the driveway, and one was carrying a crowbar. The other was seen removing a screen window to the victim's garage.

The homeowner turned on the exterior lights, and said the suspects ran to a white Hyundai Tucson and fled the area. The two suspects are described as wearing black sweatpants and dark blue or green hooded sweatshirts, with white or gray undershirts.

On April 6 at 4:49 a.m., officers went to a residence on Troy Meadow Road where another homeowner said that he woke up because people were trying to break into his home. This resident saw two males look into his vehicle parked in the driveway and then opened the back gate. The suspects noticed him and ran to a white Hyundai Tucson, where a third person was waiting to drive them away.

The homeowner in this case described the two suspects as having face masks and hooded sweatshirts, and wearing all black.

On April 14 at 3:02 p.m., police responded to the DSW store on Waterview Boulevard for a reported shoplifting. The loss prevention specialist told officers that an unknown woman stole three pairs of shoes at 1:23 p.m. that day, and then fled in a black Chevrolet Malibu. The shoes are worth approximately $192.
