Plainfield Council Designates Developer for Apartment Building, Potential Grocery Store at Fine Fair Site (tapinto.net) — Plainfield’s City Council has picked a developer to replace the closed Fine Fair supermarket site with a six-story building featuring 150 apartments and significant ground-floor commercial space aimed at a new grocery store. While officials can’t yet guarantee a supermarket, several chains have shown interest. The project would also include a parking deck with about 265 spaces.

Friends, Family Honor Steven Marinero, Plainfield Teen Killed in Car Crash a Year Ago (tapinto.net) — Plainfield residents gathered Wednesday night at Garfield Avenue and East Second Street to remember 18-year-old Steven Marinero, one year after the crash that claimed his life. Family, friends, and Plainfield Police held a candlelight vigil in the rain, sharing memories, counting to his would-be 19 years, and releasing blue and white balloons.
