A 6-year-old boy is now in ICU after he was run over by a Halloween parade float in New Jersey, police said.

The 6-year-old Point Pleasant boy was listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit at Jersey Shore University Medical Center after he was run over by a float during the Point Pleasant Boro Halloween parade, Capt. Robert Lokerson said.

The utility trailer ran over the boy at 1:44 p.m. during the parade, he said.

Officer Loren MacIver is conducting the motor vehicle crash investigation.

The boy was walking along the parade route with his mother when the accident occurred near the intersection of Bridge and Barton avenues, Police Chief Richard Larsen said.

The 36th annual parade is organized by the Point Pleasant Chamber of Commerce.
