Area residents are urged to buy soft serve cones at Dairy Queen anytime until 9 p.m. today to help families of two local girls with chronic illnesses.

The revenue will be split evenly between the two families who are struggling with medical bills and other costs, such as high gasoline and food costs, incurred from frequent visits to hospitals and doctors.

"Please come out and show some love to Daisy Payne who suffers from "ALL" (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) and Allie Ciancia who suffers from "FSGS" (Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, a rare kidney disease) from Point Borough," says the Dairy Queen Facebook page for the event. "Come out and join us, buy a cone or cup to help benefit these families! Thanks hope to see you all there."
