Additional information from Burger, from 2 p.m., states:

"Showers and thunderstorms throughout the day which could bring heavy rains, with the average of 5" of rainfall during the overnight.

We can expect some severe flooding, ponding water on roads and flooding in those areas prone to flooding. Some of these severe thundertorms can produce small hail and gusty winds in excess of 35 mph.

Tonight these showers and storms will continue as a front approaches and pulls the remnants of Hurricane Isaac northeastward. Heavy rains and showers will also be on tap Wednesday as those remnants slide through our area with the cold front from the northwest.

"The weather will start to clear up by late Wednesday night. The high temp today will about 78. The low tonight 68-70.

On Wednesday a high of 86. There will be clearing by Thursday and the sun will return, but we will still have a chance of thunderstorms with the instability in the air.

So, to sum it up, expect showers and T storms, some could be severe with a lot of rain today and into Wednesday. Flooding will be the biggest problem."

Also, there was 2.97 inches of rain in Point Borough from Monday night into Tuesday morning, based on Burger's weather center data, he said.
