A Letter To The Editor From Former Point Beach Councilwoman Monica Walsh Petracco
Petracco urges vote for Democrats Don Rodgers and Russ Kelly For Borough Council

A Letter to the Editor from Monica Walsh Petracco
Since I completed my four terms on the Point Pleasant Beach Council, I have very seldom commented on the state of our town and how it is governed. This year, however, I feel I need to add my voice to those endorsing our Democratic team of Don Rodgers and Russ Kelly.
For some time now, our town has been governed by one party. That's never good in a democracy. There are other opinions that are never heard, other plans that are never forthcoming. When Dan DiCorcia and I were on Council, either one of us could make a motion to, let's say, make cuts to the budget. And because there were two of us, one could second the motion and the item would be discussed in public and a vote taken in public.

That's not the case now.
But we can change this situation in November by voting for the team of Rodgers and Kelly. The inner workings of our town would be truly transparent then. We'd know why certain professionals are hired, what items in the budget are unneeded and gratuitous; and we'd be guaranteed that our interests were being represented during those all important closed session meetings.

But we shouldn't just elect anyone to office so as to open up our government. And the Rodgers/Kelly team are anything but anyone. Both men are amazingly intelligent, caring and committed. So please consider the opinion of this former councilwoman and vote for them. They'll be the voice that for many of you has not been heard.
