Point Beach Girls Tennis Advances into Central Jersey Championship

Point Beach Girls Tennis has racked up another round of wins and are now in the Central Jersey Group 1 Championship for the fourth consecutive year.

Point Beach defeated Metuchen 5-0 on Friday in the semifinals of the Central Jersey Group 1 Championships.

On Monday, Point Beach defeated Highland Park in the finals 3-2.

"Katie Gaal gave up only one game in the victory, winning 6-1, 6-0," said Coach Kim Pellerito. "Emily Watkins and Kyle Zusi won 6-1, 6-1.

"The second doubles team of Lauren Hajisafari and Jessica Magno got the final point for Point Beach with a 6-1, 6-3 victory" Pellerito said.

Point Beach takes on Leonia in the semifinal round of the Group Championships at Mercer County Park on Wednesday with a rain date on Thursday.

" All champions from Group 1 will be there (four teams) to compete for the title of Group 1 State Champion," Pellerito said.
