New Council Members Set To Be Sworn In Point Pleasant Beach

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — The Point Pleasant Beach Borough Council will hold its annual reorganization meeting on Thursday, New Year's Day, to kick off 2026.

The meeting is scheduled for noon at borough hall, 416 New Jersey Ave.

The council meeting will include the swearing in of two new members of the council, John H. Dixon and Karen "Kitty" Stillufsen, who were elected in November.

Stillufsen received 1,603 votes and Dixon received 1,404. The two Republicans defeated the lone Democrat who sought election to the council, Ernest J. Geiger, who received 1,021 votes.

Stillufsen and Dixon unseated incumbent David Betten in the Republican primary in June. The other seat was open as Arlene Testa did not seek re-election.

The other members of the council are Arthur Gant Sr., Caryn Byrnes, Michael Ramos and George "Andy" Cortes.

Aside from the reorganization meeting, the borough's offices and recycling center will be closed on Thursday for the New Year's holiday. There will be no garbage or recycling collections. Services will resume on Friday, Jan. 2.
