Point Beach Schools Named To Apple Distinguished Schools Program

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ – During a recent meeting of the Point Pleasant Beach Board of Education, it was announced that both Point Pleasant Beach High School and G. Harold Antrim Elementary School were named Apple Distinguished Schools for 2021.

The Apple Distinguished Schools program is a three-year program where schools use Apple products and software to help children learn in a creative, team-based environment. Schools go through an application process showing documented results of using Apple products to teach students and faculty proficiency.

The Point Pleasant Beach School District is now part of a global community of over 500 schools in 32 countries that have “a clear vision for how their technology-rich environments support learning goals,” according to Apple’s website.

“I am extremely proud of our staff for reaching this milestone. This recognition confirms the value of many instructional practices that were previously celebrated by our Future Ready Schools award two years ago. It signals to our stakeholders that the District will restlessly innovate in the service of its students,” William Smith, Point Pleasant Beach Superintendent of Schools, said to Patch.

“The selection of each of our two schools as Apple Distinguished Schools highlights our success in creating an innovative and compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic achievement. Our students thrive when asked to create, to collaborate, and to experiment. Our teachers have leveraged their Apple technology and their own desire to grow professionally to inspire creativity and bring the globe into their students’ classrooms. So much about teaching and learning has evolved over the past 10 years, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for The Beach.
