Snow Leads To Delayed Opening For Point Pleasant Boro Schools

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Students and staff in the Point Pleasant School District will get to sleep a little later on Monday as the district has declared a delayed two-hour opening due to Sunday's snowfall.
The delayed opening means child care at Nellie Bennett and Ocean Road Elementary schools will be available beginning at 9 a.m.
Point Pleasant had received 6.4 inches of snow as of 11 a.m. from the storm that moved through New Jersey late Saturday into Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm began with rain and has left icy conditions in its wake and Point Pleasant police were warning drivers to expect hazardous conditions to continue into the morning.
"Drive with extreme caution and allow extra travel time," police said in an alert.

Classes will begin at the district's schools as follows:
- Point Pleasant High School, 9:50 a.m.
- Memorial Middle School, 9:30 a.m.
- Nellie F. Bennett Elementary, 10:45 a.m. for K-5, 11 a.m. for preschool
- Ocean Road Elementary, 10:10 a.m. for K-5, 10:30 a.m. for preschool
