Point Boro Fire Dept. Changes Seminars Amid Coronavirus Crisis

Point Pleasant Boro Fire Department Station 75 has delayed all in-person fire prevention educational seminars amid the coronavirus.

POINT PLEASANT BORO – Point Pleasant Boro Fire Department Station 75 has delayed all in-person fire prevention educational seminars amid the coronavirus.

The department said the delay was made "in order to ensure the safety of our residents, students and firefighters."

The department, noting that Fire Prevention Week 2020 starts on October 4th and runs through October 10th, will be posting daily fire prevention tips "to continue to safeguard our community against the dangers of fire."

The number one cause of residential fires is unattended cooking, leading to the number one cause of home fire injuries, the department said in a release.

This year’s campaign, “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen," works to educate everyone about the simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves, and those around them, safe in the kitchen, the release said.

"We encourage everyone to continually review and practice fire safety in their homes," the department said. "We will be closely monitoring the risk we are facing from the coronavirus and determine when in-person educational seminars will take place in the schools and during community events."
