Point Boro Tree Lighting Will Be Held Friday Night

Point Boro Recreation to also hold "Holiday Zone" party on Dec. 17

The Point Borough Recreation Department will hold "The Mayor's Tree Lighting" on Friday night.

The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at , Bridge Avenue. Mayor William Schroeder will welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will arrive by fire truck, and light the tree at 7 p.m.

The event will also feature other Christmas characters, such as Santa's elves, the Grinch, Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman.

The Fifth Grade Chorus and students from Miss Maryann's School of Dance will also entertain residents. The Recreation Department will provide goody bags for children.

The Point Pleasant Chamber of Commerce will sponsor photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

From 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 17, there will be a "Holiday Zone" party for children ages 3 to 10 years old, and their parents at

The cost is $15 per person and advance registration is required. Parents are required to stay at the party with their children.

The party includes making holiday crafts, playing games, singing songs and decorating cookies. There will be holiday treats. Children may be joined by a few surprise guests.

You must pre-register for this event. Registration is starting today at the Recreation Center.
