The Route 88 bridge in Point Borough is re-opened, after an electrical malfunction forced closure.
The closure was due to an unforeseen electrical malfunction, not for scheduled maintenance, according to the state Department of Transportation.
"Our bridge contractor has been on scene making repairs yesterday and today," said Timothy Greeley, a DOT spokesman.

"The closure of the bridge is necessary for the repairs and as a safety precaution," Greeley said in an email on Sunday afternoon, while the bridge was still closed.
Greeley said the DOT had not notified media outlets about the closures that have occurred during the weekend "because they are due to an unanticipated electrical malfunction on the bridge — these closures were not scheduled."
