Route 88 Bridge Re-Opens Early Tuesday Afternoon

After about 90 minutes of closure in both directions, both sides of the Route 88 bridge re-opened to traffic just before 12:40 p.m. Tuesday.

However, the right lane of the eastbound side will be closed from about 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, so motorists are advised to use caution and allow more travel time during that period.

State Department of Transportation officials at the scene said an electrical problem forced closure earlier Tuesday, compelling officials to detour traffic.

However, at the same time, scheduled work was going on and will continue on Wednesday, prompting a planned partial closure on Wednesday.
