5 Fun Things To Do In Mercer County This Holiday Weekend
While last-minute shopping might be on the cards for many, Mercer County has plenty of festive events to get you into the holiday spirit.
MERCER COUNTY, NJ —It's the Christmas weekend. And for most people, this three-day holiday weekend will be all about family, fun and food.
And if you're looking for something fun to do this Christmas weekend, we have a fun list for you. So take your pick.
- John Abbott House Tour, Hamilton: Situated in the shadow of Veterans Park, this elegant historic site still houses a secret involving patriot funds hidden from the British as they were advancing on Trenton in November of 1776. Abbott, a 87-year-old bachelor when he died in 1795 lived in the house built in 1730 by his father and located then on the North side of Crosswicks Creek. - Martel's Christmas Wonderland, Hamilton: People travel from all over New Jersey to check out these holiday lights. The walk-through light display is open seven days a week (weather permitting) until New Year’s Day.
- Palmer Square, Princeton: If you really want to soak in the spirit of the Holidays, visit Princeton's Palmer Square. Go skating on Saturday and Sunday, from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. & 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Enjoy extra Holiday cheer on the weekend as you run into joyous carolers singing acapella and Santa strolling from corner to corner. Don't miss all the action between 12 p.m. - 2 p.m.
- Terhune Orchards, Princeton: Soak in the Holiday cheer at the winery and meet up with family and friends to enjoy live music on Saturday and Sunday. Seating is available indoors amongst the wine tanks in the cozy wine barn and outdoors with firepits and outdoor heaters. Enjoy mulled wine, s’mores, hot cocoa kits, cheese plates, chips and more.
- “The Christmas Night Crossing” Lecture at Washington Crossing: Using diaries and letters of the participants, Washington Crossing State Park Historian Clay Craighead will give a lecture on the significance of the Christmas Night Crossing and the Battle of Trenton.
The lecture will take place Dec. 23, 1 p.m. at Washington Crossing State Park, Visitor Center 355 Washington Crossing – Pennington Road. The Visitor Center Museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring The Swan Historical Foundation’s Collection of over 500 Colonial and Revolutionary War artifacts.
