Kathryn Bigelow & Idris Elba Filming In Mercer County?

The crew was spotted filming their Netflix production in Trenton.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ – A big movie production has come to Mercer County, according to local buzz.

Academy –Award-winning director Kathryn Bigelow and actor Idris Elba are in Trenton, filming their next big film.

Local social media pages have captured stills from the movie production along with photos of Elba meeting with locals during the filming break.

Crews were spotted filming in the Old Barracks section of Trenton and by the Labor Department building.

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority said it would not comment on a project currently in production.

The movie is being produced by Netflix and is centered on “a group of White House officials scrambling to deal with an incoming missile attack on the U.S.,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

A few months ago, a casting call was made for background actors/people in the crowd at a basketball game scene in Trenton.

The scene was scheduled to be filmed on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the casting agency Grant Wilfley Casting.

Bigelow made history in 2010 when he became the first woman to win a Best Director Oscar for her film “Hurt Locker,” a thriller set during the Iraq War, starring Jeremy Renner.
