Kitten Hitches Ride To Princeton On The Top Of Car's Gas Tank

The owner heard the car "meowing" and discovered the 10-week-old stowaway.

PRINCETON, NJ — A kitten who traveled from Plainsboro to Princeton University campus was rescued on Friday afternoon, officials said.

Princeton University Department of Public Safety got a call from a Honda Civic owner who said their car was "meowing."

Officers found a 10-week-old kitten hiding on top of the car’s fuel tank. The kitten had traveled to campus from Plainsboro.

Animal Control Officer Jim Ferry responded to the scene and requested help from Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad (PFARS). Once there, PFARS helped lift the car so that Ferry could free the kitten.

The female kitten was safely removed from the undercarriage and taken to SAVE, an animal rescue center, where she will be up for adoption soon.
