Mike LaSusa On Track To Be Next Princeton Schools Superintendent
LaSusa currently serves as Superintendent for the School District of the Chathams.

PRINCETON, NJ — On Wednesday, the Princeton Board of Education will vote to appoint Dr. Michael LaSusa as the next superintendent of the Princeton Public Schools.
Mike LaSusa currently serves as Superintendent for the School District of the Chathams in Chatham, NJ. He has held this role for the past 13 years.
He will step into the role left vacant after the resignation of Carol Kelley.

LaSusa began his career in public education as a middle school Spanish teacher in North Philadelphia. Since being hired to teach Spanish and Social Studies at Chatham High School in 2001, he held several administrative positions in the district, including high school principal and assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.
Among his achievements as superintendent include the development of a comprehensive program to support the mental health and well-being of students; the implementation of a later high school start time; the creation of a mandatory Holocaust and Genocide Studies course at Chatham Middle School, alongside the installation of a dedicated collection of Holocaust literary works at Chatham Middle and Chatham High School; the expansion of special education programming at all levels of schooling; the introduction of Chinese (simplified) and American Sign Language in Grades 6-12; and investments in both programs and facilities for the arts and athletics.

LaSusa is the immediate past president of the New Jersey Association of School Administrators (NJASA), the current president of the Garden State Coalition of Schools (GSCS). He was named Region One New Jersey Superintendent of the Year in 2019.
LaSusa holds an Ed.D. from Rutgers University in Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education, a M.S. in secondary education from Saint Joseph’s University, and a B.A. in Spanish from Gettysburg College. He currently lives in Morris County with his wife and children.
The special Board meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Refreshments will be served following the meeting to celebrate LaSusa’s expected appointment.
