Philadelphia Housing Authority Director Visits, Commends, Princeton

A letter from Borough Mayor Yina Moore.

To the Editor:

At my invitation, Mr Michael P. Kelly of the Philadelphia Housing Authority visited with the Housing Authority of the Borough Of Princeton (HABOP) Board of Commissioners, staff, and Borough and Township elected officials on Friday, Feb. 17. HABOP leadership and executive staff provided a guided tour of all HABOP properties located in the Borough and Township of Princeton.

Mr. Kelly commended the HABOP representatives for achieving a 94 out of 100 point score for their efforts in managing and maintaining their housing stock.  He also remarked that the high level of maintenance, site cleanliness, and the satisfaction of the resident population that contributed to the high ranking was evident throughout the tour.

Mr. Kelly shared his vast experiences in the industry and was eager to continue a relationship with HABOP and area officials and volunteers who are concerned about the delivery of affordable housing to those most in need of housing in Princeton.

Mr. Kelly is a graduate of Princeton University, and therefore I asked my fellow alumnus to join me in the plight of sustaining the economic diversity that our community values by seeking the cooperation and participation of the University in creating more low-low income and affordable housing.

The gathering was publicly noticed as a HABOP meeting however, no official decisions were entertained or voted. The mid-morning to mid-afternoon event included a tour of all of the sites, two vacant units ready for rental, an Olive's catered luncheon with staff at the Redding Circle community room.

The day was informative for all in attendance and mutually beneficial to the interests of both PHA and HABOP.
