William Hunter, Ex-Princeton Police Officer, District Staff Dies At 89
Hunter was also a lifetime member of the Princeton Hook and Ladder Fire Company. He died on May 12.

PRINCETON, NJ — Former Princeton Police Officer and a lifetime member of the Princeton Hook and Ladder Fire Company, William A. Hunter, died on May 12. He was 89.
Born in Alloa, Scotland, Hunter immigrated to the US in 1952 and lived in Trenton.
He then moved to Princeton after joining the Princeton Borough Police Department in 1961. He served as a Patrolman and specialized in arson investigations, the police department said.

Hunter retired in 1986 and went on to work for Princeton Regional School System.
In a Facebook post, the Princeton Police Department condoled Hunter’s death. “He devoted his life to the service of others and his community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends,” the department said.

Hunter was also a lifetime member of the Princeton Hook and Ladder Fire Company where he served for 54 years.
He was an Army veteran who served from 1957-1959 as an armorer and assistant platoon sergeant, according to his obituary.
Hunter is survived by his wife Jean, who he was married to for 63 years; sons and daughter-in-law Neil and Sharon Hunter and Douglas Hunter; granddaughters Nicole and MacKenzie.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home.
