Nonviolent Crimes Increase, Violent Crimes Decrease in Ramsey
Ramsey saw more incidents of both nonviolent crimes and fewer incidents of violent crimes in the first half of 2014.

New Jersey State Police have released their Uniform Crime Report for the first two quarters of 2014. According to their reports, Ramsey’s overall crime index has risen from 93 to 107 in the last year, a 15 percent increase in crime.
Ramsey saw 9 incidents of violent crime between January and June of 2013, and 5 such incidents in the same period of 2014. Despite the small numbers, that’s a 45 percent decrease in violent crime.
Nonviolent crime, however, increased by 17 percent: Ramsey Police reported 69 nonviolent crimes in the first half of 2013, and 81 in the first half of 2014.
