196-unit apartment complex proposal at a special Ramsey Board of Adjustment meeting Wednesday night.

According to Russo representative Lisa Sikora, several aspects of the development proposal, including traffic and potential economic impact will be discussed at the meeting. In addition to Russo group president Ed Russo, Traffic Expert Charles Olivo from Stonefield Engineering & Design and Fiscal Expert and Economist Richard Reading are set to testify about the development at the meeting.

The complex, which was originally proposed by Russo Development last August, was redesigned earlier this year to address some resident concerns that have been brought up at previous town meetings. The current proposal includes 196 upscale rental units spread between one four-story building and two smaller buildings. The complex is planned for the land currently occupied by Ramsey Lumber.

Broadway on Main

Also on Patch this week, look for an insider sneak peek of an annual show coming to Ramsey next week. The Broadway revue is a unique theatrical experience in the borough, the director says, because of its multi-generational cast.

KoC Shield Awards

The Ramsey Knights of Columbus will be hosting its annual Shield Award ceremony Thursday. The group and several local politicians will honor five local emergency responders as the 2013 recipients of the award.

Slain Soldier Buried 

Staff Sergeant Eric Christian, the 39-year-old Marine who grew up in Ramsey and was killed in a “green on blue” attack earlier this month, will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on May 21. According to the cemetery website, Christian will be buried with full military honors in a ceremony that is set to begin at 11 a.m.
