Ramsey Seniors Plan Summertime Sizzle

Check out what the seniors are up to, and how you can get involved.

Summer is heating up for Ramsey's Senior Citizens. Below is a list of what the borough's Leisure Club has happening for the next month. All residents over 65 are invited to join the group. See details below on how you can get involved in the various senior activities.

  • The Bocce Boys are now playing at Finch Park at 10 a.m. instead of 1 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
  • The ladies group meet every Thursday at 10 a.m. New fun game of the season is PICKLEBALL.  It is played on a tennis court with the net lowered to 34" at the center and is played with a perforated plastic baseball similar to the whiffle ball. A short paddle is used instead of a tennis racquet and can be played by two or four players. Interested persons can sign up at the senior center or call Al Crescenzo at 201-825-2925 for information. Beginners are welcome.
  • Looking for some dance cardio work-out? Try Zumba Gold, which is the senior version of the now popular Zumba craze. Call Doug Rennie at 201-805-8115 for information on this musical workout!
  • The Sunday movies will continue with Life of Pi shown on June 2 at 1 p.m. Join the group for refreshments at 12:30 with Marge and Philly, who volunteer their time every week to help make this a fun event.
  • The Bronx Zoo trip on Wednesday, June 1h, will depart from Finch Park at 8:45 a.m. and return about 5:30 p.m. After the zoo, board the bus and enjoy the Arthur Avenue shops and restaurants on your own. Dress comfortable and wearwalking shoes. Price is $38  payable to Ramsey Seniors. Call the borough hall at 201-825-3400 for availability.
