Ramsey Student Receives National Merit Scholarship

RAMSEY, NJ — A borough student has received a corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced Tuesday.

Kaitlyn Pierpont is a student at Ramsey High School. She received the National Merit Mary E. Beyerle Scholarship. She might go into biomedical engineering following college.

The Mary E. Beyerle Scholarship is awarded to students from Maryland, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania through a trust. It is one of 1,000 scholarships awarded to National Merit Scholarship finalists that are financed by 160 companies, businesses, and foundations. Winners are selected based on the academic achievements, extracurricular accomplishments, and potential for success in college.

Students are entered into the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT.
