• Planning Board Appointment Redo Spurs Debate (tapinto.net) — Readington’s township committee has narrowly approved an ordinance letting the next mayor appoint a designee—potentially even a nonresident—to serve on the planning board instead of sitting there personally. The 3–2 vote followed sharp debate over whether such unilateral appointments weaken accountability, at a time when land use, affordable housing, and Route 22 redevelopment are already flashpoints in town.
   

• 13th New Jersey City Waives Permit Fees (thetruthaboutguns.com) — Readington is now among several New Jersey towns refunding the local portion of the state’s $200 concealed-carry permit fee, easing costs for residents who apply. The move is part of a broader gun-rights campaign pressuring municipalities statewide to waive the $150 they receive, arguing high fees unfairly burden people exercising a constitutional right.
