It's been an annual tradition for more than 50 years.
Fireworks on the Navesink River has always been a part of Red Bank's summer. In recent years, however, KaBoom! Fireworks on the Navesink grew too large, at least according to the borough, which no longer felt it worthwhile to help support the financial burden.
According to organizers of the annual event, billed the best fireworks show in the state and one of the tops in the country, KaBoom! costs grew to about $250,000 a year. Police and insurance costs made it too expensive to keep the event going, it seems.
