Arrests Made in Smash-and-Grab Burglary at Welsh Farms

Two suspects being held on $71,000 bail

Two men have been arrested in connection with a of in July.

Police say Herman Rozier, 46, of Linden and Kareem Gary, 32, of Elizabeth are responsible for the 1:32 a.m. July 23 burglary, which resulted in the theft of money and the destruction of property.

A metal crowbar was used to smash the front door of the East Front Street convenience store, which caused $240 in damage, police said. Once inside, the men stole $1,350 in cash and an unknown number of lottery tickets, police said.

Police say both men have admitted their guilt.

Rozier is charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief.

Gary is charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, conspiracy to commit theft and conspiracy to commit mischief.

Both men are being held in lieu of $71,000 bail each.
