Businesses Team Up to Collect School Supplies

In an effort to ensure that school age children have all of the supplies they need for the upcoming school year Red Bank businesses have teamed up to gather donations to be distributed by to area youth in need. 

Led by , more than a dozen downtown businesses are participating in the school supply drive, which runs now through Aug. 24. Among the supplies Lunch Break is looking for include number two pencils, glue sticks, erasers, scissors, pencil cases, pocket folders, blue pens, one-inch binders, red pens, rulers, crayons, markers, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, lined paper, calculators, highlighters, wide ruled one subject notebooks and book bags, which are a priority.

The items are being distributed by Lunch Break, Red Bank's soup kitchen, food pantry, and social services outreach center, the week of Aug. 27, just prior to the start of the 2012-13 school year.

To help encourage shoppers to donate, Ten Thousand Villages is sweetening the deal by offering a 10 percent discount to everyone who donates school supplies now through the end of the drive.
