Driver Uninjured After Flipping Truck
A young driver apparently escaped injury after falling asleep behind the wheel and turning his pickup over.
A young driver escaped injury after flipping his truck on E. Bergen Place in Red Bank Friday evening. According to the unidentified driver, who declined treatment and remained on the scene, he fell asleep behind the wheel before crashing his older model pickup.
According to a witness who was driving behind the truck, the driver started drifting off of the road before hitting the curb, apparently, striking a parked and unoccupied sports utility vehicle, and turning over. The driver was able to extricate himself from his truck just minutes after the accident.

The young driver, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a ball cap, watched as a tow truck operated used a winch to upright the truck, scattering some of its contents along the roadway. He said he fell asleep and wasn’t sure how he managed to crash his ride.
“I’m OK. I’m happy to be alive,” the shaken driver said before spotting his mother walking towards him at a high rate of speed. “But, this might hurt.”
