SHREWSBURY, NJ — The waiting will soon be over for fans of "The Golden Bachelor," who will learn Thursday night if our local Shrewsbury contestant is the last woman standing in this mature take on "The Bachelor" franchise.

The two-hour finale of the show (Episode 9) airs Thursday at 8 p.m. on ABC. And the network has said "The Golden Bachelor" premiere was a ratings winner for the franchise.

Variety reported the premiere episode of “The Golden Bachelor” had 11.10 million total viewers across various platforms after seven days, according to Nielsen.

The show has captured a lot of online interest, and there are a few media spoilers out there, if you are looking for them.

But the network is giving the general public a gradual rollout of the outcome, characteristic of the franchise.

Theresa (still referred to by her first name only at this point) is a 70-year-old widow who has hit it off with Gerry Turner, 72, a widower.

Theresa and Leslie, a dancer from Minneapolis, are the two finalists in the quest for the final rose.

Leslie and Theresa have both survived rounds of elimination during the past several weeks of the show that has taken the contestants on unique dates, romantic dinners, a fantasy trip to Costa Rica and a pickleball tournament for some lighthearted fun.

Turner, of Indiana, is referred to as a "retired restaurateur" by the show's producers. Theresa works in the finance industry.

In the last episode, Turner got to lean more about Theresa's professional life and was impressed.

"I had no idea how responsible you are," he told her in the last episode Nov. 16. You can read more here.
