Garden State Equality Endorses Jackson In Red Bank Race
LGBTQ advocacy organization and the Monmouth County Democrat LGBTQ+ Caucus announce support for John Jackson for Red Bank Council.

RED BANK, NJ — Two organizations that advocate for LGBTQ+ leadership and representation announced support for John Jackson, Democratic council candidate in Red Bank, the candidate said in a news release.
Jackson also had two prior endorsements from the New Jersey Democrtic LGB+ Caucus and the national organization Victory Fund, Jackson said.
“I’m honored to receive the support of these great organizations who advocate for us from the statewide to the local level. As an elected official, I would continue to do the advocacy and work that they do every day,” Jackson said.

LGBTQ people remain underrepresented in government nationwide with only 0.2 percent of elected positions, according to statistics.
Jackson serves on the town’s Human Relation Advisory Committee whose mission is also driven by equality and representation, Jackson said.

According to the Garden State Equality’s website: “Each election cycle, we endorse candidates based on their support for our mission of lifting up the diverse voices of LGBTQ+ communities to advance the movement for equality in New Jersey,” Action Fund Board Chair Jeannine Frisby LaRue said in the statement.
County Chair Dr. Michael Penna, PhD, said of Jackson: “The Monmouth County Democrats LGBTQ+ Caucus is proud to endorse you as a candidate in the 2022 Election.”
Jackson has been a member of the New Jersey and Monmouth County Democrats LGBTQ+ caucuses for years and also volunteered for GMHC in New York City where they were assigned as a Buddy to a person living with HIV.
Jackson is the running mate of current Councilwoman Angela Mirandi.
